The mission of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is to develop and maintain excellence in clinical care that best serves the needs of the emergency medical or surgical needs of children in the region and beyond. This will be achieved by changing the culture of emergency medical care to the family and patient centered model of care by all levels of providers in the emergency department.

To achieve this mission, the pediatric emergency medicine division faculty will collaborate internally with other division members of department of pediatrics as well as the division of emergency medicine. Our priority goal is to provide direction and uniformity in initial approach to common pediatric illnesses by developing clinical guidelines and education of evidence based practice of pediatric emergency medicine to all levels of emergency department providers. Our second goal is to provide community outreach and marketing to achieve critical census for the treatment of pediatric emergency medicine physicians for 24 seven coverage in an independent pediatric emergency department.
